Telegram block list: find it, unblock people, know what changes
Your block list lives in Settings › Privacy and Security › Blocked Users on every Telegram app. Open it, then swipe left on a name (iPhone), long-press it (Android) or click Unblock (Desktop and Web). The person is not told, and messages they tried to send while blocked never arrive.

Tap a brick to unblock that person. This is a practice wall, nothing leaves your screen.
Each brick is someone who cannot message you, call you, or see your photo, last seen and stories.
Where is the block list on Telegram?
Same three taps on every app: Settings, Privacy and Security, Blocked Users. Pick your app and climb the four steps from left to right.

Why the list looks the same everywhere. Telegram keeps your block list on its servers. Block someone on your phone and the laptop knows within seconds, because every logged-in session gets the change.
Need to add someone instead? The Block User button at the top of the same screen lets you pick any chat or contact.
How do you unblock someone on Telegram?
Four routes reach the same switch. Use whichever screen you are already on.
From Blocked Users
fastest for many
Best when you want to clean up several names at once. Settings › Privacy and Security › Blocked Users, then the gesture for your app.
- iPhone: swipe left on the name
- Android: long-press the row
- Desktop and Web: Unblock on the row
From the chat
Open your old chat with them. Where the message box should be, Telegram shows an Unblock bar. One tap and the box comes back.
From the profile
Tap their name at the top of the chat, open ⋮ or More, choose Unblock.
A bot
Open the bot and tap Restart. That unblocks it and sends /start, so the bot greets you again.
No route sends a message to the other person. If you want them to know, tell them yourself.
What changes the moment you unblock someone?
Flip the switch to see your profile through their eyes, before and after you unblock them.

The rows that stay the same matter as much as the ones that change: no notification either way, and nothing sent during the block is replayed. Ask them to send again if something was important.
Why does Telegram have two block lists?
Telegram’s own developer documentation describes a main blocklist and a separate story blocklist. Most guides only mention the first, which is why people unblock someone and wonder why they still can’t see stories.
Where to find it: Settings › Privacy and Security › Blocked Users. Unblock here and the person can reach you again.
Removing someone from Blocked Users does not take them off Hide my stories from. Check both lists if you want a clean slate.
What does unblocking not do?
Six things people expect, stamped with what actually happens.
- NO“They get a notification that I unblocked them.”Telegram only tells your own logged-in devices. The other person sees nothing.
- NO“The messages they sent while blocked arrive now.”Those stayed at one check on their side and are not delivered later.
- NO“The chat I deleted comes back.”If you chose Delete and Block, that history is gone for you.
- TRUE“Blocked people see last seen a long time ago.”Telegram’s FAQ confirms it, whatever your Last Seen setting.
- NO“Blocking removed them from our groups.”Blocking covers private contact only. In shared groups you still see each other’s messages.
- TRUE“After unblocking they see my stories.”Yes, unless they are on the separate story list.
Bots, groups and deleted accounts: what is different?
Open a case file. Each one is a situation where the normal Unblock button is not the whole story.
Stopping a bot is blocking it
Stop bot, Block bot and deleting a bot chat with the block option all put the bot in Blocked Users. To use it again, open the chat and tap Restart. Restart also sends /start, so expect the bot’s welcome message.
Tip: a bot you never want again can stay blocked forever. Blocked bots cannot message you.
Unblock, or is something lighter enough?
Blocking is the strongest switch Telegram gives you. Tell us what bothers you and see the smallest tool that fixes it.
Unblock them, then say hello yourself
Blocked Users › Unblock. Telegram will not tell them, and anything they sent while blocked is lost, so a short “I unblocked you, send that again” saves confusion.
Can’t find someone, or unblocking did not work?
Type what is happening. The matching fixes stay, the rest fold away.
- The person is not in the listYou may have blocked them from another Telegram account on the same phone. Switch accounts from the menu and check its list too. If they deleted their account, the row shows “Deleted Account”.
- I unblocked them but they still can’t reach meCheck Settings › Privacy and Security › Messages and Calls. If you have Premium and limited messages to contacts, or charge Stars for messages, those rules still apply after unblocking. They may also have blocked you.
- No Unblock option on AndroidA plain tap opens the profile. Press and hold the row, or tap the ⋮ on it.
- The bot stays silent after unblockingTap Restart or send /start. If it still does nothing, the bot itself may be offline.
- I can’t add them to a groupTelegram refuses to add anyone you blocked. Unblock first, or send them the group’s invite link instead.
- My list is empty but I can’t message strangersThat is a spam limit on your own account, not a block. Ask @SpamBot, then follow our guide to removing restrictions.

Questions people ask about the Telegram block list
Where is the block list on Telegram?
Settings › Privacy and Security › Blocked Users. The path is the same on iPhone, Android, Telegram Desktop and Telegram Web. On Android open Settings from the ☰ menu first.
How do I unblock someone on Telegram?
Open Blocked Users, then swipe left on the name on iPhone, long-press the row on Android, or click Unblock on Desktop and Web. You can also open the chat and tap the Unblock bar, or use Unblock in their profile menu.
Does Telegram tell someone when you unblock them?
No. Blocking and unblocking only update your own devices. The other person gets no message or alert. They may notice later that your last seen or profile photo is visible again.
Will I get the messages they sent while blocked?
No. Messages sent to you while they were blocked are never delivered, even after you unblock them. Ask them to send anything important again.
Can a blocked person see my profile photo and stories?
No. Blocked users cannot message or call you, and cannot see your profile photo, your last seen time or your stories. They always see “last seen a long time ago”.
How do I unblock a bot on Telegram?
Open the chat with the bot and tap Restart. This unblocks the bot and sends /start, so it replies with its welcome message. You can also unblock it from Blocked Users.
Does blocking someone remove them from groups we share?
No. Blocking only stops private messages and calls. In groups you both belong to, you still see each other’s messages. Group admins remove people from a group, and that is a different list called Removed users.
Why can’t I find someone in my blocked list?
You may have blocked them from another Telegram account, or they deleted their account and now show as Deleted Account. If someone still can’t reach you, your Messages or Calls privacy settings may be the cause, not a block.
