Telegram directories: which channel and group catalogs can you trust?
A Telegram directory is a website or list that sorts public channels and groups by topic so you can find and join them. Telegram has no official directory, but the app has its own discovery tools. On 27 October 2026 we opened the popular catalogs ourselves and kept only the ones that loaded, with what each one really shows and how its ranking behaves.
What is a Telegram directory, exactly?
Every directory shows you listings like the one below. Some parts come straight from Telegram, others are the site’s own opinion. Switch the view to see which is which.

- 1. Name and @usernameSet by the owner in Telegram. The @username is the one thing you can check yourself: open t.me/username and compare.
- 2. Category and languageChosen by the owner on a form or guessed by the site. Telegram does not label topics.
- 3. Subscriber countRead from Telegram at some moment. It can be days old, so check the live number in the app before you trust it.
- 4. Rank or “Top” badgeThe directory’s own formula. It may weigh size, growth, reach or paid boosts, and it is often not explained.
- 5. Join buttonShould open t.me or the Telegram app directly. If it opens a bot that asks for your phone number or a code, close it.

What can Telegram itself show you before any directory?
Telegram builds three discovery lists into the app. The suggestions cover public channels only, they need no outside website, and nothing on them is for sale. For every search trick inside the app, read our guide to Telegram’s in-app search.

Join a public channel and Telegram pops up channels picked by overlap in their subscriber bases. Open the channel’s profile later and the same list sits in a Similar channels tab.
- Similar channels. Open a public channel, tap Join, and look at the suggestions that appear. Later, open the channel’s profile and switch to the Similar channels tab.
- Channels tab. Tap search in the chat list and open Channels. Below your own channels you get recommendations based on what you already joined.
- Folder links. When someone shares a t.me/addlist link, Telegram shows the chats inside, lets you untick any of them and adds the rest as one folder.
Which third-party catalogs did we open on 27 October 2026?
Most “best Telegram directory” lists repeat the same dozen names, and some of those sites are gone. We loaded each candidate and kept only the three that opened, with what we saw on the page that day. Numbers are the sites’ own, copied as shown.
Says it lists more than 2,891,159 channels and groups, split into country catalogs: Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Iran, China, India and Ethiopia. Russia alone showed 1,707,000 channels and 135,600 groups.
- Ratings filter by category and by public or private channels.
- An add form asks for the link or @username, country, language and category.
- The form page does not say if listing is free or how review works. The compilations page asked us to log in.
Best for: checking a channel’s size and growth before you join or buy an ad in it.
Two public rankings: 35,826 groups (English 9,855, Russian 7,626) and 19,697 channels. The order is not by size:
Every row has a Boost link, and on the groups list the order appeared to follow the boost counts, from 160 down to 10. The page does not explain what boosting does.
Best for: finding active groups by language. Treat the position as the site’s choice, not popularity.
“Found 8064 channels” across 48 topics, built for buying ad posts. Owners sign up with a Channel owner role, and the site says it uses manual moderation.
Best for: admins buying or selling ads. It is a shop window, not a neutral discovery list.
How do you judge a Telegram directory in two minutes?
Open the directory in one tab and Telegram in another. Tick what is true and watch the needle.
Fine for spotting topics, but check every chat in Telegram before you join, and never trust its order as popularity.

The top spot is for sale
Paid or boosted listings often sit above bigger chats. Profit promises like “500% a day” are a classic investment scam pattern, wherever they are listed.
Do instead: sort by size yourself and skip any listing that promises returns.
How do you get your channel into a Telegram directory?
Directories can only show what is public, and they copy your own words. Most of the work happens inside Telegram before you fill in any form. Tap each step to stamp your ticket.
Without a public @username there is nothing for a directory to link to. Private invite links can still be submitted to some catalogs, but Telegram’s own suggestions will skip you.
What does a directory listing realistically bring?
Listing sellers and “free promotion” sites make big claims. Drag the brass handle to compare them with what we actually saw on the live sites.
“Thousands of new members from one listing.”
Rankings sort by size, growth or reach, so a new channel starts near the bottom of a long list.
“Reach the top spot.”
Combot’s #1 channel had 11,821 members, above one with 4,876,234. Position is the site’s formula.
“Get a verified listing.”
Only Telegram gives the official checkmark, through @VerifyBot. A directory badge is not it.
“Free and instant.”
The forms we saw did not say if they are free or reviewed, and some data needed a login.
Our honest take. A listing is a signpost, not a growth engine. It helps people who already browse your topic, and it gives buyers of ads a place to check you. We have no click data from these sites to share, so measure it yourself with one invite link per directory and keep only the ones that send people who stay. The official checkmark is for notable organisations with verified accounts on at least 2 big platforms, and Telegram verifies through @VerifyBot, never through a directory.
Want your listing to start from a stronger base?
Catalog rankings sort by subscribers and reach, so a brand-new channel with 40 members is easy to scroll past. A starting base helps it look established while your posts do the real work. Bought members and views do not read, comment or share like people who found you, so pair them with good content.
Questions people ask about Telegram directories
Is there an official Telegram directory?
No. Telegram does not run a public catalog website. Inside the app it offers Similar channels, recommendations in the Channels tab of search and shareable folder links, and its suggestions only ever show public channels.
Are Telegram directory websites safe to use?
Browsing one is usually safe if its Join buttons open t.me or the Telegram app. Close any directory that asks for your phone number, a login code, a payment to browse or an app download, and check each chat in Telegram before joining.
How do I add my channel to a Telegram directory?
Make the channel public with a clear @username, write a description with your topic words, then use the site’s add form. TGStat’s form asks for the link or @username, country, language and category.
Why is a small channel ranked above a big one?
Each directory uses its own formula. Some rank by growth, reach or citation, and some let owners boost a listing. On 27 October 2026 Combot’s top channel had 11,821 members and sat above one with 4,876,234.
Can a directory list private channels or groups?
Only if someone submits an invite link, and some analytics catalogs keep a separate filter for private channels. Telegram’s own Similar channels list shows public channels only, and a folder link can include a private chat only if its creator manages that chat’s invite links.
Are subscriber counts in directories accurate?
They are copied from Telegram at some point and can be out of date. Open the channel in Telegram to see the live count before you rely on it.
What is a t.me/addlist link?
It is a shared chat folder. Opening it shows the channels and groups inside, lets you untick any of them and adds the rest as one folder. A folder holds up to 100 chats, or 200 with Telegram Premium.
Does a directory listing get my channel verified?
No. Only Telegram assigns the official checkmark, through @VerifyBot, mainly to notable organisations with verified accounts on at least 2 large platforms. Third-party verification icons come from services approved by Telegram, not from directories.
Where to next?
How we checked this guide. On 27 October 2026 we opened TGStat (home, ratings and add form), Combot’s top groups and top channels, and the Telega.io catalog, and copied the numbers as shown. Telegram facts come from the Similar Channels announcement, the API pages on recommendations, shared folders, invite links and client limits, and Telegram’s verification page.
