How many Telegram channels can I create?
As many private channels as you like, up to 10 public ones. Telegram caps public channels and public groups you own together at 10 (20 with Premium). Private channels have no cap of their own, but every channel you create counts toward the 500 channels and supergroups you can be a member of (1,000 with Premium).

What are all the Telegram channel limits in 2026?
Five numbers decide how many channels you can run. Only one of them is about creating channels, and it only applies to public ones.
One pool for public channels and public supergroups. Each one with a t.me/username link takes a slot.
You are a member of every channel you create, so private channels count here. Basic (small) groups do not.
The owner can add the first 200 people directly. After that, people join by link.
Channels have no subscriber ceiling. Supergroups stop at 200,000 members.
Telegram publishes no admin number, only a “too many admins” error. Owners and tools report the cap at 50, bots included.

Why can’t I create another channel?
Telegram blocks a new channel for five different reasons. Pick the message you see.

- Make one older channel or group private, or create this channel as private. The slot frees as soon as the old username is removed.
How do I create a Telegram channel?
Creating takes under a minute. The only choice that touches your limits is step 3.

Tap the pencil button at the bottom right of the chat list, then tap New Channel.

How do I free a public channel slot?

How do I run several channels without losing track?
Owners with five or more channels lean on four built-in tools. None of them costs a slot.

What happens after your first 200 subscribers?
From subscriber 201, nobody joins unless they find your link. Search, ads, cross-posts and your own audience do that work over months. If you want a public channel to look established on day one, a starter batch of members gives new visitors a reason to stay.

Questions about Telegram channel limits
How many channels can one Telegram account create?
Up to 10 public channels and public groups combined, or 20 with Telegram Premium. Private channels have no separate cap, but all channels and supergroups you are in, including your own, must stay under 500, or 1,000 with Premium.
Do private channels count toward the 10 public channel limit?
No. Only channels and supergroups with a public username use the public pool. Private channels count only toward your 500 memberships.
Do public groups and channels share the same limit?
Yes. Telegram’s limit covers public channels and public supergroups together, so 6 public groups leave room for 4 public channels on a free account.
How many subscribers can a Telegram channel have?
There is no limit. The owner can add the first 200 subscribers directly, and everyone after that joins through the channel link.
How many admins can a Telegram channel have?
Telegram does not publish the number. Its API has a “too many admins” error, and owners report the cap at 50 admins, with admin bots counted.
Does Telegram Premium remove the channel limit?
No. Premium doubles it: 20 public channels and groups instead of 10, and 1,000 memberships instead of 500.
Why does Telegram say I have too many public links when I own fewer than 10?
Usernames you have listed for auction on Fragment still count toward the limit, and the app’s pop-up does not list them. Telegram’s team confirmed this on its bug tracker in May 2024.
Can a second Telegram account give me more channels?
Yes, each account has its own limits, and the apps let you sign in to several accounts. Keep every account on its own real phone number and protect each with a 2-Step Verification password.
